This series of animated testimonies tells the true stories of believers from a Muslim background. Each episode shows a challenge the believer faced and how God helped them overcome it.
The videos were created in partnership with PALM (Preparing Arab-world Leaders for Ministry). Each testimony will accompany a unit of PALM's discipleship curriculum called Progressing Together. PALM has been watching God transform lives through this curriculum for more than 40 years.
Animation allows us to tell the stories of these believers without putting them in danger. It also makes it easier to adapt into other languages.
The animation style we chose for this project was more complex than what we did on our previous project, Share the Story.

Developing Characters
PALM, the team we partnered with on the project, provided the background information for each character. The team based the characters on real people. Some background details included the character's country of origin, age and family situation. That was the foundation for creating each of the characters.
For this series, we simplified the characters by limiting facial features, including eyes and, in many cases, mouths.

Creating Visual Cues
One of the challenges of this series was finding creative ways to represent abstract concepts, like the Holy Spirit and the characters' inner thoughts and questions.
You'll notice throughout the series the Holy Spirit as an abstract white glow around the character or as a light purple "wind" flowing around the scene. We depicted the dark spirits and evil with a thorny black "wind." Thorns also represent bitterness throughout the series.
We also used block shapes as a recurring theme throughout the series to represent the idea of being trapped, whether it's by a character's obligations, sin or unforgiveness.
